About me

As you are viewing my profile, the chances are that you are looking to find confidential and non-judgemental support through a difficult or challenging time, equally, you may be interested in self-development and curious to know more about 'who you are' in the world...

Reaching out for support is the first step toward positive change...

I offer an initial, 50 minute, consultation and during this first session you will have the space to share your personal story, to explore what you would like to achieve from therapy and we can then tailor your sessions to suit your unique requirements.

A Relational and Therapeutic Relationship...

Key to a good outcome in therapy is a solid therapeutic relationship, emotional well-being depends on having satisfying mutual relationships with others and this concept will be central to our sessions.

Exploring and ultimately understanding yourself more fully within the therapy room will enable new ways of being to emerge that will have a direct and positive impact on your relationships and ultimately your life.

It is important to say that I will not give advice or tell you what to do, you are the expert in your life! My role as your therapist is to be an active companion on your journey of self discovery which, at times, can be challenging but ultimately rewarding.

Individual Counselling...

As individuals we have both Choice and Responsibility - I am aware that this concept can seem challenging - however, through my work I have been privileged to witness how my clients developing self-awareness and understanding of themselves ultimately has a positive outcome for their lives and relationships.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, low mood and depression, low confidence and self esteem, loss and bereavement, and relationship challenges, family issues, gender issues and gender dysphoria, teens and young adults, OCD and intrusive thoughts. However, this list is not exhaustive and you are unique, as are your concerns.

Relationship/Couples Counselling...

It doesn't matter if you are a heterosexual couple living together, married, gay, straight or transvariant. I am here to help. I have experience working with people from all different backgrounds, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or age.

An intimate/romantic relationship is one of the closest we have. Choosing a partner and staying together through life's inevitable twists and turns is rarely straightforward. When we get married, or commit to a long term partnership and maybe choose to raise a family together, it is no surprise that this adds to the complexity.

Whether you have the occasional conflict, full-blown arguments or have simply stopped enjoying each other - very few relationships are conflict-free. When our relationship begins to flounder, often our mental, physical and emotional well being suffers.

While for many of us our first instinct is to try and work through problems alone, it can be of great benefit to seek outside support with an experienced therapist who can help you both explore your issues in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment and guide you in developing the essential communication skills central to a successful relationship.

Wherever you may find yourself, I look forward to hearing from you and to supporting you in moving toward positive change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

How to make an appointment:

I offer appointments during the day/evenings on week days, and Saturdays.
You are welcome to email me using the link at the top of my profile. Or, call me on: 07704 219495 to make an appointment or to arrange an informal chat on the phone prior to meeting. I may have my phone switched off if I am working, so please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Each appointment / session lasts 50 minutes. Our initial consultation is payable and offers an opportunity for you to see how I can help you to achieve what you want from counselling, then we take it from there.

My clinical experience has highlighted that it is advisable to attend a minimum of 6, consecutive sessions, at which point we can review your therapy needs moving forward. This is not obligatory and your autonomy is respected, however, this early commitment often indicates whether a more open ended way of working would be beneficial, or it may be clear at this point that you feel better equipped to progress in your life without further intervention.

£60 per 50 minute session for individuals.
£85 per 50 minute session for couples.

(Concessions and student rates available)

Each person will be treated equally: my aim being to ensure that you are respected as a unique individual without judgement or discrimination and regardless of age, gender, culture, faith/religion, disability, background/culture or sexual orientation.
