About me

I'm an approachable, kind and qualified humanistic therapist. I’ve been working with individuals, couples and young adults for over 15 years.

I see therapy as a conversation in which you have the time and space to understand what and how you are feeling and/or thinking. I will ask questions or make observations but always from a place of curiosity.

Many of us are not taught how to identify our feelings or experience. If anything, we may grow up fearing our feelings and criticising ourselves. When we learn how to be with all of what we are experiencing, we can befriend our feelings and gain access to more of who we truly are.

I have particular experience of supporting people to:

  • Build self-connection and self-esteem
  • Make sense of anger, sadness, fear and shame
  • Reduce anxiety and depression and regain confidence and courage
  • Increase your communication skills
  • Rebuild relationships
  • Manage emotional eating
  • Understand relationships with partners, family, friends and self.

Couples Work

Being in an intimate relationship can bring out the best and the worst in us.

Most people contemplating couples work have some understandable fears; that the therapist will take sides or that it will make things worse.

What most couples don't know (and can learn) is that all relationship difficulties usually boil down to developing better communication and learning how to step towards differences rather than away.

Through conversation, communication structures and homework I will help you and your partner understand why and how you argue about the same old things and give you the skills you need to start building a relationship that is adult, level and good willed.

Issues that are often worked through in couples counselling include affairs, separation, divorce, conflict, sex or lack of, money and self-esteem.

I work with couples who are right at the beginning of their relationship or couples who are in long-standing relationships.

I charge £120 for couples. Sessions last a hour and take place in person.

I review my fees yearly in January.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a qualified, registered humanistic psychotherapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (RegMBACP).

I am a founding member of HOMA psychotherapy practice in Clerkenwell.

I am also a Foundation Year Tutor with HOMA 4 Year Psychotherapy Training.

I completed an intensive face-to-face 7-year 700 hour+ training in Humanistic Psychotherapy at Spectrum Centre for Humanistic Psychotherapy and continue my ongoing supervision and professional development there.

I have also completed a 12-month specialist training programme with Beyond Chocolate which provides people with practical steps and support to create a happier and more satisfying relationship with food, eating and body esteem.

I am a Member of the BACP and am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, the Ethical Guidelines for Researching Counselling and Psychotherapy (where practitioners undertake research) and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
