About me

I am a qualified, BACP accredited therapist with over 18 years of experience supporting and developing individuals, couples and groups. I take a flexible solution focussed approach and I am trained in numerous approaches in counselling and psychotherapy.
I am highly empathic; I aim to tailor my support to your situation in tandem with your own strategies. I combine talking therapy with physical techniques such as EMDR, EFT and breathwork. I aim to help you to understand how previous life experiences and loss may have embedded unhelpful thoughts and patterns of behaviours; working with you to develop awareness, self-acceptance and more helpful ways of viewing yourself and the challenges you face.

I will share my approaches with you in order that you can use them to create coping strategies between sessions and after therapy. I take a holistic approach to explore your physical and emotional well-being. I use short term therapy of six to twelve sessions, but I can also provide support for a longer time.

I have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and loss. I can work with you to eliminate the ongoing effects of trauma; panic attacks and flashbacks using EMDR and/or trauma focussed EFT.

I come from a corporate background and I worked for five years in occupational health organisations as well as twelve years in Private Practice. I have been able to help many people with problems which are impacting their work, those who feel they are in the wrong job or struggling to juggle work with the rest of their lives. I understand the impact of work related stress, difficult working relationships, career transition, redundancy and retirement on personal well-being. I have a wealth of experience helping individuals to manage transition; shifting careers or priorities as well as remove limiting beliefs to improve self-esteem and performance at work.
I am trained and use creative forms of counselling for example visualisation and mindfulness.
If you would like to talk though what is happening in your life, I am here to listen. If you would like to make changes in your life, I am here to support you.
I offer face to face 1 hour sessions or for EMDR 90 minute sessions from my room in an office in Cheadle Hulme.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
