About me

Are you experiencing anxiety, stress or depression? Have you suffered a bereavement or had difficulty putting troublesome issues behind you? Many of us have times in our lives when we struggle to cope on our own and may find it difficult to gain perspective and feel we need some help to achieve greater insight, focus or understanding of the problems we are going through at the present time. You may want to look at coming to terms with past experiences that may be placing obstacles in the way to achieving contentment or peace of mind. Counselling can be a great tool in helping you reach your goals,  giving clarity and understanding where previously there may have been confusion and negativity.

I am a qualified Relational Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor with experience in both brief and open ended therapeutic models of counselling. I am an empathic and approachable counsellor offering a comfortable, non-judgemental and highly confidential environment, adhering strictly to the BACP's ethical framework of which I am a member. I am also trained to work with Children and Young People.

As a Relational Integrative Counsellor I utilise a combination of models, enabling me to tailor my approach to the individual, with the emphasis being placed on the uniqueness of each client and the importance of the relationship between client and therapist in which an environment of trust and openness can be experienced and carefully cultivated. Within this setting I use a variety of techniques and skills from Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic and Gestalt to name but a few.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
