About me

My name is Emma and I work with children, teenagers and adults through creativity and playfulness to help work through issues and build confidence and self-esteem. I have been working with children and young people with social, emotional, behaviour and mental health problems for over 20 years and in 2015 began offering creative therapy for adults also.

I am a qualified, registered and accredited Creative Arts & Play Therapist. Besides using creativity to connect with and help clients to express themselves and find solutions, I also use the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and mindfulness based techniques in an integrative way matching your needs or those of your child.

Come and be creative! Creativity and playfulness are ageless, and this unique form of therapy is suitable for all ages. As well as verbal communication, this form of therapy uses sand tray therapy, small world figures, art, drama and music, meaning that things too painful or complicated to put into words can also be expressed, explored and solutions found.

Whether working with children, teens, or adults, I have a client-led approach. This means that you (or your child) lead and I follow, supporting you through your therapeutic journey. This is gentle (and sometimes even enjoyable!) approach to connecting with our emotions can have deep and meaningful changes. I am a caring, approachable therapist who likes to bring laughter, and light-hearted humour into the serious business of healing, growth and well-being.

I am able to offer therapy sessions in Welsh or English. Contact me by telephone 07810737059 or email emmakingcounselling@icloud.com. I am available 9am-5pm during the week, but can be flexible for evening or weekends.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
