About me

Hello & Welcome.

I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor & Psychotherapist specialising in trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, ex-offenders, coping with difficult life events and helping to identify feelings of uncertainty.

I offer a professional, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore what is causing you distress. I would be honoured to talk further with you about your difficulties and how I can help you.

There are many reasons you might be considering counselling right now.

Life events may feel difficult to cope with and you may not know where to turn. You might feel unheard, misunderstood or stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour; perhaps you have become unhappy but do not why leaving you feeling more anxious or confused.

When people experience distress they can often feel alone, not knowing what to do. Often people try to bottle up their painful emotions by pushing them aside because they are very difficult to cope with.

Counsellors are there for us when we decide to take the brave step to ask for help, offering a professional and trusted relationship to confide in.

How I Can Help.

I welcome you to a safe space to explore what is causing you distress. Working at your pace, I would be honoured to take those difficult first steps into - or returning to - therapy and create a trusted relationship for you to share your problems constructively and help to greatly improve your psychological wellbeing.

Working from the person-centred approach, I will listen to you deeply and work sensitively with the difficulties you bring to therapy, encouraging you to explore your thoughts and feelings safely. As a result, your innate ability to find the solutions that work best for you will develop and assist you towards greater clarity, self-awareness and acceptance.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that helps you to work out problems though focused exploration of emotions and how this relates to how you may behave and think. During session and we will work closely on what troubles you, exploring the areas of your life that you are struggling with and help you to learn better ways of relating to yourself and others.

Please contact me to discuss this further by email, text or on the phone and feel free to ask any questions that you may have. We can arrange a time for a free telephone consultation for you to decide whether I am the counsellor to help you.

Our initial meeting is free of charge for the first 30 minutes with no obligation and the rest of the session will be available for you to use if you choose to.

If I am unavailable I will contact you within 24 hours where possible to arrange a suitable time for us to talk further.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
