About me

Hello, I am a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist working in Catford, South- East London. I have experience working with both adults and children. In tailoring therapy to your individual needs, I draw upon a variety of theories and techniques within my practice.

I have experience in psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy- specialising in Art Psychotherapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy with adolescents. I can use these approaches in psychotherapeutic counselling to work with you to provide a tailored and personal approach to counselling that will best help and support you.

I have undergone extensive training and I am committed to providing psychotherapeutic therapy which is informed by the latest research. I am qualified to provide a therapeutic approach which is individualised for each client, taking into account your unique individual needs. I am registered with BACP, HCPC, IPT UK and BAAT.

The problems I often work with include:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • panic disorder
  • phobias
  • obsessive compulsive disorder
  • social anxiety
  • bereavement
  • loss
  • bullying
  • adjustment difficulties
  • work-related stress
  • relationship difficulties
  • anger
  • low self-esteem and confidence problems

This is not an exhaustive list of difficulties, and it might be that you are unsure of what is bothering you, but feel that you could benefit from a space to consider, and make sense of, what is happening in your life. It is also common for people to use psychotherapeutic counselling as an opportunity for them to reflect on their life and their personal ambitions and to assist in their personal growth and development.

Whatever your situation might be, you don't have to go through it alone: together we can work together to find the type of approach that best suits you and your needs. How many sessions will I need? The number of sessions required depends on the individual and the difficulty that they are experiencing. We would normally agree to meet on an open-ended basis and regularly review our work together. How do I arrange an initial session? It is often very useful to have an initial discussion on the phone or via email to discuss your situation and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you might have about art therapy and the way that I work. If you then decide that you would like to make an appointment, we can arrange to meet for an initial assessment session where together, we can develop an understanding of your needs and discuss how we might proceed together.

I am able to provide online psychotherapy via Zoom at the moment, should this be easier.

Please do contact me to discuss this further. Some clients may be a little unsure about the idea of art therapy, which is the form of psychotherapy that I specialise in. Therefore I have described it in a little more detail below. Although a specialism of mine, I am experienced working with verbal psychotherapy and am happy to work with you in this way if this is how you feel most comfortable.

What is Art Therapy? Art therapy can be a really helpful way of exploring yourself and your feelings in a relaxed and less threatening way than other forms of psychotherapy. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art materials as a way to express and communicate thoughts and feelings allowing for space to address emotional issues which may be confusing and overwhelming. Art therapy is not a recreational activity or an art lesson, although the sessions can be enjoyable, and no art expertise or experience is needed. How can art therapy help? Like counselling and psychotherapy, art therapy can be helpful for children, young people, adults and the elderly experiencing a wide range of personal difficulties. What happens in an art therapy session? Art therapy sessions last for 50 minutes. The sessions are client-led and, although a range of art materials will always be available, they do not have to be used and the space can be used to talk and explore if this feels more comfortable. If and when art materials are used this is done at your pace and using materials which feel comfortable for you. We will then spend some time together looking at whatever has been created and reflect on and work through any feelings or thoughts that come to mind.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss anything in more detail.
