WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CONTACT ME?
I know from my own personal experience that seeking counselling can be a daunting process so I'd like to explain a little about the way that I work with my clients:
When I receive your telephone call or email I will be happy to speak with you on the 'phone initially and will then arrange an introductory appointment with you at a time which is convenient to us both if you would like to meet me. I firmly believe that it is important for you to feel that you will be able to become comfortable with me over time and be able to trust me to work with you and treat you with the acceptance and care you need to support you safely and professionally during our work together. During this meeting I will listen carefully to you and work to understand your needs to ensure that I am a suitable counsellor for you.
I do not charge for this initial meeting; this is purely for us to explore the possibility of forming a trusting, therapeutic relationship and you will be under no obligation to see me again.
If we decide to work together we may start with more than one session a week, depending on your needs. You may find that weekly sessions are sufficient for you. I will work with you at your pace; I will never try to force you to explore areas which you are uncomfortable with. With your permission I may gently challenge you, however I will always respect your choices.
I believe that the depth of work we do together is dependant on the therapeutic relationship we build together.
I will support you to decide when you are ready to leave therapy. Some clients come back to work on other issues at a later date.
HOW WILL COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY BENEFIT YOU?
Counselling and Psychotherapy offer you the opportunity to discuss difficulties and issues which are causing you problems in a professional, confidential, safe and non-judgmental environment. Perhaps you have decided that you would like to change something about yourself or your life. Maybe you are just not happy and fulfilled and are unsure of the reason why.
An important part of moving forward is to recognise and understand how unhelpful patterns from your past may be affecting you in the present so that you can consider the changes you may now chose to make to your life to have a happier future.
We cannot change our past, however we can learn from it!
Our experiences from the past can be useful tools to use to shape our futures and help us to change.
HOW WILL I HELP YOU?
I WILL SUPPORT YOUR CHOICE TO CHANGE.
I will help you to build on your own inner strengths and resources, show you new ways of working through your issues and support you as you learn to understand and accept yourself and decide on your future path. We will clarify what you would like to change and decide on how you will shape your life differently by working together on your issues.
I am a qualified humanistic, integrative counsellor and use Transactional Analysis as my primary theoretical model. I incorporate other approaches such as Person-Centred Counselling, Gestalt and interventions based on CBT into my practice dependant on the needs of my individual client. As well as talking therapy I offer you the opportunity to work with drawings, objects and animals to facilitate your progress.
I work together with my clients on a variety of different issues and offer counselling, psychotherapy and mentoring to individuals and couples, face-to-face in Oxted and Crowborough, on the internet, (Skype, Facetime and VSee) and 'phone. Home visits can be arranged in some circumstances.

WEIGHT LOSS AND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Have you ever thought there must be more to life than dieting?
- Does eating out or having meals with friends fill you with dread?
- Do you always make excuses to avoid social events linked with food?
- Do you end up not enjoying Christmas and holidays because you feel guilty about what you are eating?
If any of the above questions ring bells for you please contact me.
I have extensive experience in working with weight issues and supporting clients as they work to understand what may be behind their uncomfortable relationship with food.
We cannot just give up food, we all need to eat! Is it just food that you are hungry for or are you using food to satisfy other unmet needs?
My weight support programme is designed to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings around food, to identify any triggers and patterns in your eating behaviour and to move towards a healthier and more enjoyable way of life where food is your friend not your enemy.
Let's work together to find a way for food to be just one part of your life rather than to allow food to rule your life!
I offer an initial 30 minute exploratory session free of charge.
My session fees range from £45 - £65.
I will be happy to discuss my fees further on application.
COUNSELLING STUDENTS AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
I have experience of working as counsellor to counselling students and university students and enjoy supporting their journey through training.
Some counselling courses require that students are in regular personal therapy, other courses leave this to the discretion of students. I will be happy to meet you to discuss your individual needs.
I am also able to offer exam prep supervision.
Please note that I am unable to offer counselling support to current students of Wealden College due to boundary reasons.
