Elizabeth Saiman MBACP ( Senior Accredited ) UKRCP Registered. RGN. RMN
I am a Senior Accredited Member of the BACP, holding a diploma in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy. Having 20 years experience counselling many individuals from different backgrounds and in different settings, I now see clients in a safe and confidential space for once weekly counselling.
Coming to counselling for the first time can sometimes feel quite daunting and i believe that until you experience it and meet your counsellor only then can you know if it is right for you and whether you feel you can work with her, or him.
It can be difficult to know which counsellor to choose with many ‘approaches’ and ways of working being offered. I offer a first session where you can let me know how I might be of help to you, and tell me what brings you to counselling. At that first meeting you can get a feeling of what sessions with me will be like and I can get a picture of what your needs or anxieties are and about you as a person, the putting into words of your story and this beginning of the counselling process can in itself be very helpful.
When I worked at the Royal Free Hospital in the Women’s Health Counselling Department, I gained extensive experience in the problems many women face before, during and after their pregnancies. I found that although we know the importance of diagnosing post natal depression, pregnancy in general can often bring up various anxieties or worries. women can also feel depressed antenatally. If this is the case, then the relationship between the pregnant woman and her counsellor can be very important in helping the mother and her future baby to form a healthy happy bond.
I work with many other issues other than women’s health however, and these are listed below.
