Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Cognitive-Behaviour Therapist, member of the BABCP with a specialist interest, training and experience in Mindfulness-based therapy and Person-Centred counselling. I offer face-to-face individual therapy to people aged 16 years and above, either short or long-term depending on your difficulties, needs and goals of therapy.
I also work part-time as a Lecturer at the University of East Anglia (UEA) teaching health-care professional students and qualified staff skills in CBT and counselling. In 2014 I was awarded funding to deliver a 6-week Mindfulness for Wellbeing course designed by myself to UEA staff.
Working in NHS mental health services from 1999 until 2013 has given me 17 years of experience offering therapy to individuals and groups. Over these years, I have worked within both Primary and Secondary mental health services, helping people with mild to moderate psychological difficulties. I opted to leave the NHS to set up private practice so as to enable people more freedom and time to explore their difficulties and development.
Having overcome personal emotional difficulties, I provide an empathic and non-judgemental approach to the difficulties people have or are facing. I began meditating and implementing Mindfulness into my life and found it transformed the way I viewed myself and my relationship with others. Although this is an approach I have found personally useful, I will work with you in an integrative way to use whatever therapeutic skills and techniques suits your needs best.
