About me

I provide an effective, professional and affordable therapy service to support you in exploring and learning new ways of managing and overcoming emotional difficulties. As an experienced, pro-active and compassionate therapist I can work with you to create real change and achieve sustainable results in improving your emotional wellbeing and happiness.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist who believes passionately in the effectiveness of talking therapy for the treatment of individuals struggling with mental health difficulties. By working collaboratively, you are encouraged to achieve a greater self-awareness and empowered to find resolution for past difficulties and solutions to current unhelpful ways of thinking and being.  The work is often challenging but by creating a therapeutic relationship built on empathy and honesty, devoid of judgement, you are supported and accompanied all the way in order to achieve the goals and make the changes you choose for a happier and more fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, my training is accredited and recognised by The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a member of the BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
Before moving into Private Practice I worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in various clinical settings including the NHS, Primary Care, Work Place Counselling, Mind and Ashgate Hospice. I am also a qualified workplace mediator. I have experience of both short term solution focused therapy working within a model of 6-8 sessions and also of much longer term work over a period of months. I have a particular interest in working with relational trauma, abuse, loss and self-esteem/confidence issues.

  • BSc (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP Accred.)
  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • OCN Level 3 Workplace Mediation
  • OCN Level 2 Workplace Mediation

I have also attended numerous training courses during my employment with the NHS and am committed to my continuing professional development to ensure that I am able to offer the best possible service to my clients.

Further information

Finding the right therapist that works for you is vital to the effectiveness of the therapy- the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the process. Can I talk to this person? Do I feel listened to and understood? Can I trust them with my ‘stuff’?  In order to establish whether we are a ‘good fit’ I offer a free 30 minute initial appointment where we do just that.  It is an opportunity for us to meet one another and for me to take some details about why you are considering coming for therapy and to discuss some goals and objectives. It is also a space for you to ask any questions or express any concerns about the process of therapy and how you are feeling about that.
