Elisabeth Rodriguez MSc, PG Dip, MBACP (Accredited)
The type of therapy I provide encourage's you to make the most of your life and your relationships. It is aimed at helping you to experience joy and well-being and for you to discover new ways of thinking and relating that help you rather than cause you distress.
My knowledge is grounded in years of practice within various NHS settings and five years of academic study at the University of London.
I welcome people from all walks of life, religious and cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations to my practice. Your individuality, personal circumstances and cultural background will be respected at all times.
Whilst every client is treated as an individual, I offer two general types of treatment:
Solution Focused Therapy
This type of treatment usually lasts 6-12 sessions and focuses on the present and on what you seek to achieve in the future.
The sessions will be aimed at drawing out your strength and at identifying your resources.
This approach works well if you feel stuck, experience stress, low mood and/or suffer with mild to moderate anxiety and panic attacks.
This treatment is ideal for people who seek a deeper understanding of their internal world.
This may be due to relationship issues, post natal depression, clinical depression, bereavement, trauma, addiction, abuse or simply finding it hard to experience joy and contentment.
The overall aim is always to increase your emotional well-being.
I am particularly interested in the mind- body connection and how it relates to conditions such as chronic pain, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and IBS.
Research suggests that high levels of the stress hormone cortisol have a negative effect on these conditions and also increase pain sensitivity.
Talking therapies are aimed at reducing anxiety and stress levels and may therefore increase emotional and physical well-being.
