About me

I provide a confidential and professional counselling service for adults, children and young people. I am a qualified Cognitive behavioural therapist (level 7). And EMDR PRACTITIONER /trainee Consultant I have a masters in counselling and a masters in Developmental and therapeutic play practitioner.
I am able to adapt the counselling to each individual's needs, as we all have different experiences in life. Some experiences can be traumatic, hurtful or can upset us for a short period of time, but you do not have to deal with such problems alone, counselling can help.  The first steps of thinking about counselling can be daunting, but it needn't be, many people need to talk to an impartial , professional, non-judgemental and caring counsellor at some time in their lives and find that this can give them a sense of relief, positive solutions and change; just the simple act of talking about your worries can be helpful in itself.

My experience
I have over 14 years experience working with adults, children and young people.
My work is underpinned by the British Association of Counselling and psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical framework for good practice and I have regular professional supervision as part of this code of ethics.
At present I work as a self-employed counsellor, I supervise a school-based organisation.

I am passionate about helping others to find coping strategies to their difficulties in life and am very easy to talk to.

There are many reason for seeking counselling: Life has many difficulties and having a person who you can talk to in confidence and who will listen without judgement is important. I can provide a safe and confidential space in which you can talk about your issues and we can work together to ease and find realistic solutions to your issues.

Working with adults

At our first consultation we will work together to establish your main areas of concerns and we will develop a package of counselling related to your personal circumstances. You may only need to attend for a short number of sessions or you may choose to access counselling support for a longer period, it is your choice, you are in control.

Working with Children & Young People

I am also qualified to work with children and young people: I use creative counselling techniques when working with children and young people, this can include working with sand trays, clay, and other creative mediums, alongside talking therapies. I work with children from the age of 4 right up to young people aged 18. Once again at our first consultation we will work together to find out what works best for you as an individual young person.

Counselling Supervision
I offer integrative and cbt supervision to help counsellors understand both the task and process of counselling clients, as with counselling I offer a safe, professional and creative space for counsellors at all levels of their professional practice. At present I work with individuals and I supervise for a schools-based counselling service.

I work with many types of distress/concerns:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
