I appreciate that approaching therapy or counselling for the first time can feel like a daunting and confusing prospect. But I want to reassure you that people from all walks of life come to see me for many different reasons; it is a positive decision to make as even the most capable amongst us can at times face challenges that weigh heavy. We often avoid difficult aspects of life because they are to painful or frightening, however I believe by facing them in a supportive environment we can achieve symptom relief, and develop a clearer understanding of ourselves.
In a comfortable, respectful and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalised approach, tailored to each of my clients individual needs in order to support them in attaining the personal growth and well being they want. In the therapy room we work together in a mindful, sensitive and focused way to face painful and uncomfortable feelings, to gain symptom relief and support growth full change where possible.
I work with individuals or couples who present with a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues:
Some of the areas of difficulties I work with include:- depression, loss, trauma, abuse , anxiety, grief, anger, addiction, gender and health or work related issues. Also the paralysing impact of relationship problems, or self defeating patterns of relating, mind/body problems, learning or attention difficulties, all the above frequently motivate people to enter therapy in order to support their continued ability to function in the outside world
At one time or another every couple has difficulties with their relationship. Couples therapy can give you the opportunity to resolve problems and conflicts that you have not been able to handle effectively on your own. The aim of couples work is for you to gain a better understanding of yourself and your partner, decide if you need and want to make changes and if so, how you might put these into action. Fee is £65 per hour.
Individuals can also have difficulties with their relationships as well as other areas of their personal and professional lives. Therapy can provide the opportunity to resolve problems and conflicts, helping the individual gain a better understanding of self, and the changes they may wish to make. Fee £40 per hour
when counselling starts we arrange to meet for a first session to talk about your areas of concern and give you an opportunity to consider your options and decide whether I am a suitable therapist for you. This meeting lasts for 60 minutes and gives you a chance to ask me any questions you may have about my background and the process of therapy.
Our on-going clinical contract will be specific to our individual work, but I will provide information on my service for during and outside of the sessions.
During our work we will regularly and jointly review progress, ensuring that your ongoing needs are being met.
Each subsequent therapy sessions usually last for 60 minutes and usually take place weekly (negotiable). Once we have an established relationship I can also offer Phone or Skype session if you travel or cannot make a session.
Fees:- individuals £40 and Couples £65.
I do offer a quota on sliding scales for some client groups (full for 2016/7).

Taking the first step to contact a therapist can be the most difficult thing to do.
The first session is an opportunity to see what it feels like to work together. I offer an initial session with no obligation for you to continue, and after that you will be able to decide whether you want to go further.
Yes, you can certainly finish therapy anytime you want. However, I advise clients that before they finish therapy, they return for a final session so that the therapy can be closed in a safe and appropriate way.
I operate a 48h cancellation policy, otherwise a full charge will have to be made as I will be unable to fill the slot.
Provisional appointments given will be held for 48h after that I may reissue so please confirm.
A limited number of consessions are available (my quota for 206/17 has been filled(.
I work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds and faiths who are coping with a variety of emotional issues. I therefore provide individuals and/or couples with the opportunity to reflect upon, and talk about their difficulties in a safe, none-judgmental and confidential environment.
My counselling service draws upon appropriate models of counselling and psychotherapy suitable to the individual client or couples. The main model I work with is the Person-Centred approach, which is a supportive type of therapy where the individual is given the space and safety to share concerns that are deeply affecting them. I also work intergratively fusing different schools of psychotherapy together.
Edwinstowe House where my practice emanates from, provides a professional approach, confidentiality is discussed with reception staff, lift and disabled access is available as well a drinks. Ample free car parking is available and it is a short walk to the shops in Edwinstowe, and a short drive to Rufford Park and other areas that support a nature and nurture environment.
The UKCP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy states that all counsellors are required to have regular and on-going formal supervision for their practice. I am currently in the final stages of completing a Post Grad Diploma in Counselling Supervision and provide in my private practice 1:1 and group supervision to qualified counsellors and counsellors in training. Supervision sessions can be arranged weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. I offer supervision to counsellors who work within a person-centred, humanistic or pluralistic framework. My way of working as a supervisor is predominantly supervisee-centred, however I also integrate other supervisory models into my practice, depending on the needs of each supervisee. If you are looking for a counselling supervisor, why not come and see me for a introductory session, so we can see if we would feel comfortable working together.I also run group supervision for organisations, on a freelance basis, so if you are an organisation with a room in which group supervision can be held, I can come to you.
My fees for Supervision are £40 per hour for qualified counsellors and £35 per hour for trainees. Please contact me discuss group supervision.
