Hi, I am Dot Lawrence. I am a fully qualified, professional and BACP Registered counsellor. I adopt an integrative approach which includes: Person Centred, Cognitive Behaviour (CBT), Psychosensory Therapy. Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic. This enables me to adapt my practice in order to respond to your unique needs and provide the best therapeutic help for you.
I understand that when suffering from feelings such as; anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, loss or anger it can be difficult to take the first step in seeking help. Finding the right person to help you heal is key. This is why I provide the initial consultation free of charge. It gives you the chance to meet me, ask questions and check that you will feel comfortable working with me.
I have over 20 years experience, working for a large public limited company, providing both professional and personal development. This included coaching, training, skills development, mentoring and professional counselling.
More recently, I have worked with The London Borough of Ealing and Southend’s Local Authority; providing a range of support. I have also provided counselling services for The Early Help Family Support Team and a women's refuge in Chelmsford.
Currently, I am working with an organisation that offers counselling for adults in South Essex. We cover many areas including; anxiety, relationship issues, depression, bereavement, trauma, panic disorder, low self esteem/confidence, feeling sad, phobias, family issues, affairs, betrayals, separation/divorce, bullying, menopause, abuse, eating disorders and more.
My passion is mental wellbeing. In order to be the best counsellor I can be I have worked hard to gain an understanding of psychotherapy and also the neuroscience that is involved in mental disturbance. I work with clients's to relieve the emotional effects of encoded trauma (historic or recent). I also offer client's an opportunity to learn how to communicate with their body in it's own biosymbolic language by accessing their unique "operating instructions" for interpreting their world. This helps to improve their sense of self, define what's really possible for them and puts them back in the driving seat.
I provide confidential counselling in a relaxed, safe and comfortable environment. My initial 30 minute assessment is provided free of charge. This meeting is an opportunity for me to understand what you would like to address, for me to explain what I can offer and for you to ask any questions. If you choose to continue, future sessions are charged at £40.00. I look forward to meeting you.
