Tyne And Wear
Thank you for visiting my page.
I am a qualified counsellor's with almost four years experience. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children. I have worked with a variety of issues including bereavement, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, self harm and relationship issues.
Counselling offers you the opportunity to be listened to in a confidential, nonjudgmental and safe environment. It allows you to work through any issues at your own pace by exploring your feelings and beliefs and can offer a new insight into your behaviour.
Many people put problems to the back of their minds in the hope that it will go away, however like the junk that accumulates in a loft or garage, these problems can build up until they become so overwhelming that they are often difficult to cope with.
Counselling can be a way of gently sifting through these issues and building resilience against mental health problems and becoming more empowered and self aware. I have been trained in the psychodynamic approach which looks at defence mechanisms and patterns of behaviour but I follow an integrative approach, and believe in tailoring counselling to each individual, rather than trying to fit them into a box. Counsellors are in an extremely privileged position of trust which is something I never take for granted, the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the process.
I attend regular supervision and CPD days to ensure my skills remain up to date. I am also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
