Profile
I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I work for a mental health charity as a counsellor and group therapist. I am based in London W1 at www.harleystcounselling.co.uk and am in private practice at home in Windsor www.needatherapist.co.uk .
Finding the right counsellor or therapist is often difficult. The work is based on forming a relationship where you feel safe to share your worries and problems without fear of judgement. I offer an initial consultation to meet, to see if we can work together. The work can be short term or open ended. Individuals, couples counselling and group therapy available.
If you are feeling depressed or anxious, find yourself filled with dread or feel hopeless and desperate, or have undergone a recent life change or loss, counselling can provide a safe confidential space to talk about your feelings and help to make sense of them.
For more serious concerns, chronic anxiety and mental health problems - including trauma, PTSD, self harm, bipolar (manic depression) and obsessions - I can offer long term psychotherapy, and/or creative therapies. As an existential therapist I don't work with these 'labels' in the room, but with you as a person. I see my role as being with you while you face the realities of your existence, helping you to understand the choices you have and to bear the pain, and to live a more fulfilling life.
I also currently work creatively with a number of counsellors/ therapists who have come back into therapy to deal with emergent issues fom their own work and lives using story, myth, art, symbols and drama in addition to more traditional talking therapies.
