About me

Hi I'm Donna, a fully qualified, experienced, genuine, caring empathic counsellor. I offer my clients a warm, friendly and non judgemental therapeutic atmosphere thus allowing them to feel safe and comfortable enough to reflect and rediscover themselves.

Over the last 18 years I have worked with people from all walks of life with issues incorporating just about every problem a human being can find themselves having to cope with. I have travelled with them  on their personal journeys, helping them to identify negative thinking patterns that may be feeding feelings of sadness, depression or anxiety, and encouraged them to build upon personal strengths and skills that can help overcome feelings of hopelessness, thus enabling them to develop a more positive attitude.

I believe everyone is unique, and everyone deals with life's challenges in different ways, together we will look at effective ways of dealing with the challenges that life throws at us, we will work collaboratively at your own pace to enable you to make choices and decisions that allow you to take control of your own life, resulting in personal growth and self awareness and empower you to formulate solutions and move forward in a positive direction.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

TESTIMONIAL

Undergoing therapy was the best decision I've ever made for myself. I have suffered with depression and anxiety for the majority of my life and I was desperate to find a sustainable long-term solution that I could build on to help me have a happier life.

Therapy with Donna has helped me control my high levels of anxiety and better understand how anxiety feeds depression, low self-esteem and supress creativity. She provided a nurturing, safe and non-judgemental environment to help me first identify areas in my life that caused anguish and how to change them and turn my life into something far more positive. Together we have explored stratergies that have really worked for me and after what seems a lifetime of hopelessness, I am finally beginning to feel positive about life, enjoying new challenges and making a much brighter future, not only for myself but for the people I love. For me therapy has been a gift of a lifetime, my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.
