About me

I am a UKCP qualified (to Masters level) Counsellor/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Supervisor, and Mental Health professional of many years standing and will be happy to listen to you and help you to make some sense of your story in a non judgmental, friendly and supportive way. I like to focus on dream interpretations which I believe will help us to make more sense of our unconscious processes and lead to greater self knowledge and understanding. I have also had success working with the shadow as a way of getting to the heart of the unconscious. I am a believer in the efficacy of talk therapy as a route to gaining control of our lives and achieving our goals. I have worked a lot with anxiety and depression with successful outcomes.

Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist I worked as a manager and support worker for over a decade in therapeutic communities (both for the NHS and for a well known charity) supporting people with severe and enduring mental health issues in their recovery.

I am an equal opportunities practitioner and will work with anyone, irrespective of age, gender alignment, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, personal beliefs or background.

I have been working  privately in North London for over 12 years now. I will provide a safe and confidential space in which you can explore your most intimate thoughts, feelings, anxieties, memories and dreams, helping you to find positive ways to move forwards in your life, and ultimately achieve a greater degree of personal happiness, success and a stronger sense of self, whilst conquering deeply rooted negative patterns.

I work with individuals and together we decide on the frequency of sessions.  I normally work on an open-ended basis but can work on short term focused work.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a means to gain a sense of control of one’s life whilst hopefully reaching a fuller understanding of how our mind works, by taking a considered and thoughtful look at our history, behaviors and feelings, our unconscious processes and particularly the dynamics of our relations with others.

It is not necessarily a short term fix and if done properly will take time and commitment but can be worked at from a solution focused shorter term perspective if preferred.

I will be there to listen to and understand your story in a completely confidential and non judgmental way that will allow you to fully express your emotions, facilitate a greater understanding of your unconscious processes and dreams, leading to explanations of why you behave the way you do, whilst looking for creative and therapeutic solutions to deep rooted problematic issues.

The ultimate goal is a thorough understanding of oneself; a way forward to a greater sense of confidence and wholeness; a route to realising your full potential, achieving your goals whilst becoming the person who you are meant and would like to be.

I am happy to carry out session on Skype or Zoom if it is difficult for you to get to me.

I am a qualified (to a UKCP level) Clinical Supervisor.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I specialise in working with depression, anxiety, adhd, addiction and with people who feel stuck and are struggling to move forwards in life, with relationship and family issues. I specialise in dream interpretation and believe, as did Carl Jung, that dreams are messages from the unconscious which can be interpreted and understood to our benefit. Dream language is a language like any other, which when learnt can open doors in our consciousness and give us greater understanding of our true selves.
