About me

Counselling provides you with regular time for yourself, a safe and confidential space to talk about what is troubling you without fear of judgement. The counselling relationship is a unique one built on respect and trust, and together we can explore what you choose to share at your own pace.  You are free to discuss as much or as little as you want, whatever feels right for you.

I am a fully qualified counsellor, and a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I am trained in several therapeutic approaches and can therefore tailor your sessions to suit your individual needs.

Talking and being truly heard will increase your self awareness, helping you to understand what is going on for you. Perhaps past events have created unhelpful patterns which are keeping you stuck, or current relationships or issues are feeling difficult to manage.

It is my aim to empower you to find a way to manage challenges more effectively and make lasting changes that will enhance your life and relationships.

You may have mixed feelings and be nervous about seeing a counsellor, but let me reassure you that I understand what this can be like. I trained for many years, learning how to help clients feel comfortable sharing their stories and feelings. and that training included many hours of personal therapy, so I really know what it can be like to take that first step.

If you would like to make an appointment or find out more please call me on my mobile or alternatively drop me an e mail and we can then have a confidential conversation to decide if you feel that counselling with me is right for you.  Both my phone and e mail are private and confidential. If I am not available please leave a message and I will call you at a time convenient to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as my private practice I work for the NHS and also as a volunteer for a low cost community based counselling service. I have experience of working with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship and work issues.  I have also worked for a specialist bereavement counselling service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
