I am a qualified relationship counsellor working in my own private practice at home in Kincardine. i work in a warm and professional manner where i provide a safe, relaxing and confidential space where you can talk freely.
i work in a person centred way where I focus on your emotions surrounding your issues. I also use a psychodynamic approach where we can explore how your past is affecting how you are right now.
I work with many issues, including :- anxiety, fear, depression, loss/bereavement, relationship issues, bullying, childhood related issues, physical/emotional abuse, family related issues, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts.
I work with individual people on a one to one/face to face basis and also offer couples counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
My past experience has been working within a care and support environment, to include working with children and families in a socially deprived area of Edinburgh. I have also worked extensively with adults with learning disability, dementia, autism and mental health conditions.
I have been involved in several types of voluntary work through the years, to include working for the prison service supporting families and children of inmates. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital spending time with patients who had no close family members or visitors. I have acted as an advocate and befriender with women's aid and also with vulnerable and socially isolated adults with mental health conditions, and I have also worked as a volunteer listening samaritan.

My fee for our initial session is £35 for one client and £45 for a couple. This is when we will talk together for an hour and I will gather some information with you and explain how I work. We will have time to talk about confidentiality, contract form, and any other issues you may want to raise.
After our initial session, if you feel comfortable talking to me and feel I may be able to help you, my fee for future counselling remains the same at £35 per hour for a single client, and £45 per session for couples counselling.
Sometimes an hour is not enough, so if you feel you would like extra time, my fee for one and a half hours is £45 for a single client and £60 for a couple.
If you feel you would benefit from block bookings, my fee for 3 sessions is £90 for one client and £115 for a couple. If you chose a block booking and you do not turn up for the session, then the fee is non refundable unless in exceptional circumstances.
We all have busy lives and sometimes situations happen that are outwith our control, and so with this in mind, I ask my clients to give me 48 hours notice of cancellation of session and no fee will be payable. If i receive no notice then the full fee is payable.
I would be grateful if all fees could be paid in cash at the beginning of each session.
