About me

At times, life can just become so complicated and difficult. You can find yourself in a bit of a rut or in turmoil just trying to juggle everything and keep going. Perhaps you have tried to talk to friends and family, or maybe you have confided in no one and are just keeping going.

If you feel that you need to talk to someone who will understand how you are feeling, and who will listen to you without judgement, then I will be happy to meet with you. Please feel free to contact me by e mail at dianegray58@hotmail.com or if you prefer, you can phone or send a text to 07413566426

I am a qualified private counsellor working in my own private practice at home in Kincardine. I work in a warm and professional manner where I provide a safe, relaxing and confidential space where you can talk freely.

DUE TO COVID 19 I HAVE DECIDED TO NO LONGER  HAVE ANYONE IN MY HOME.  I NOW HAVE A PURPOSE BUILT GARDEN ROOM WHERE I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITH MY CLIENTS IN A SAFE WARM ENVIRONMENT WHICH COMPLIES WITH ALL GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES. -  SEE PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM OF MY PROFILE.

I WILL BE HAPPY TO WELCOME ALL MY CLIENTS, NEW AND OLD TO THIS LOVELY SPACE.

It takes courage to decide to come to a counsellor, and the first session may feel like quite an anxious experience. I will listen to you without judgement and will respect your thoughts and feelings. Our conversations will always be in complete confidence and I will support you in each step you take in finding a way to reach your own decisions

It is always important that you feel safe, and trust the person you are speaking with, as sharing your private thoughts with a stranger can be daunting. We all have different personalities and have different ways of working, and it is my aim to have you feel supported, listened too, understood and safe, where you feel comfortable enough to talk about anything you want to, however difficult it may be for you.

If you feel you would like to talk to me first, then I would be happy to have a free short phone call with you. If, after talking together, you feel happy and comfortable to work together, we can set up a time to meet.

I work in a person centred way where I focus on your thoughts, feelings and  emotions surrounding your issues. I also use a psychodynamic approach where we can explore how your past is affecting how you are right now. Together, we will explore what is on your mind and of the troubles you may be experiencing.

I have a diploma in body language and transactional analysis, and also practice behavioural psychology, which helps me understand why you may feel/behave in a certain way that is holding you back and may be causing upset/confusion in your life which affects you and others around you.  I have a diploma in PTSD and also NLP, ( neuro linguistic programming ). Through talking together, I can help you understand your thoughts and feelings. Together we can move towards a happier healthier future for you.

I work with many issues, including :- anxiety, fear, depression, loss/bereavement, relationship issues, bullying, childhood related issues, physical/emotional abuse, family related issues, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts.
I work with individual people on a one to one/face to face basis and also offer couples counselling.

I have a diploma in grief and bereavement counselling and work on a voluntary basis with a local hospice as a grief and bereavement counsellor.

I also work with a UK mental health organisation as a voluntary counsellor

Training, qualifications & experience

My past experience has been working within a care and support environment, to include working with children and families in a socially deprived area of Edinburgh. I have also worked extensively with adults with learning disability, dementia, autism and mental health conditions.

I have been involved in several types of voluntary work through the years, to include working for the prison service supporting families and children of inmates. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital spending time with patients who had no close family members or visitors. I have acted as an advocate and befriender with women's aid and also with vulnerable and socially isolated adults with mental health conditions, and I have also worked as a volunteer listening samaritan.
