About me

I have over 21 years experience as a senior Counsellor and Psychotherapist with BACP accreditation status. I offer sessions by telephone, online or face to face counselling.

I have seen people from all walks of life and worked with a vast range of different issues over many years. Please feel free to pick up the phone or email. We can arrange an Initial assessment and you can decide if therapy feels the right option for you.

I am trained in a number of approaches, therefore the therapy I offer is flexible. You may decide on a few brief sessions or extend counselling to suit more longer term. You may decide on CBT or an approach that feels more solution focussed? Perhaps you just need the space and time to just talk something through, or seek some clarity to a problem? Maybe you are struggling to let go of an issue and move forward? Or a past issue feels unfinished? I am also an experienced Clinical lead working in the field of trauma. I use a variety of trauma informed approaches. I have worked alongside survivors of sexual assault or historic abuse and trauma incidents for over 20 years and am trained in pre-trial therapy.
Whatever the issue, your sessions are offered within a peaceful, non-judgmental, secure and confidential setting in which to talk about whatever may be troubling you .

Why Counselling?
Counselling can support you through times of feeling anxiety, depression, periods of stress, trauma, change or loss - perhaps you are feeling stuck or at a dead end in life? Counselling can enable you to live a more meaningful life, understand yourself better so you can help yourself and achieve your personal goals. It can also help with periods of transition throughout life and times of change.

Clients tell me it can be difficult to take that first step forward and make contact.  Your contact will be treated with respect, non judgement and confidentiality. I draw on many years of experience and provide a high standard counselling service. Therapy is tailored to each individual, and can help you with a wide range of issues such as:-

  • Relationship issues
  • Separation/Divorce
  • Affairs or betrayal
  • Abuse & trauma counselling
  • Sexual abuse
  • Depression
  • Couples Counselling
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Family issues
  • Bereavement
  • Stress
  • Change/Loss of direction
  • Crisis
  • Abuse/Physical/Emotional
  • Addiction
  • Work related issues
  • Low self esteem/ Low self worth
  • Emotional issues

What happens when you make contact?
Your contact, whether by phone call, email or by text is welcome. You can leave a message and we can arrange a suitable time to talk. If, after discussion you decide to go ahead, we can arrange an initial appointment  to talk through your issues and the reasons for coming.

An initial appointment will usually take place within a week of your enquiry. This appointment lasts for about one hour during which time you will be able to discuss what has prompted you to seek counselling, and to assess your counselling needs. This is an important meeting as it gives the opportunity to consider what kind of help you require and whether you would like to take up the opportunity for counselling. In some cases a referral to a different agency may be more suitable for your current needs. The importance is for you to have informed choices.

If you do decide to go ahead, an appointment to start your counselling sessions will be made. You may decide on short term or open ended therapy, perhaps a block of sessions?

Whatever difficulty you are facing, whether it is change, a past issue, moving forward, a current situation or circumstance that troubles you, or simply feeling stuck, you are most welcome to telephone or email to book an initial appointment, or alternatively if you have a question or query.

Kind Regards
Diane Jane

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
