Are you are feeling anxious, stressed or depressed ? Feel a bit low or lack confidence ? Or perhaps someone close to you has died, in which case you may be feeling numb, confused, angry or in shock ? Struggling to cope with relationships at work or home ? Perhaps you feel like you have no-one to talk to about this in depth. I am a fully qualified Counsellor offering a safe, confidential space for you to explore your issues and make positive changes and find ways to cope better.
It can be a challenge to find a Counsellor who feels right for what you are looking for, there are so many choices and different approaches in counselling, it can feel confusing at times ~ Where to start ?
What to do ?
I am an experienced Humanistic Integrative Counsellor working with adults - also working with children and young people - qualifying in 2003, with over 13 years’ experience working with both adults and children in a variety of settings.
Seeing a Counsellor may well be a way of reconnecting with yourself, evaluating your life and enabling you to make good, clear decisions and positive changes.
I worked as a Telephone Counsellor for over 10 years, within a health company, working with a wide range of issues. I have worked, part time for MIND in West Essex, for nearly 2 years and volunteer 1 day a week as a Volunteer Counsellor with Place 2 Be within a primary school - for safe, ethical practice, I have a clear, up to date DBS check (formerly known as CRB) in order to work with vulnerable adults, children and young people.
My training was Humanistic / Integrative; Humanistic counselling tends to work in the 'here and now', aiming to support clients to recognise their own strengths, creativity and choices. Integrative counselling means I draw from different theoretical approaches to find what suits the needs of each individual client, for example it may be beneficial to look back at childhood experiences and patterns in relationships.
People come to counselling for a range of reasons and my approach to therapy is informed by many different perspectives, allowing me to tailor counselling sessions based on individual client's needs; this can be talking one to one within counselling - or, being more creative, if found to be more appropriate at times - working with other creative media, such as using elements of abstract painting, drawing or role play - using elements of art or drama therapy.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work to their ethical framework. As a professional Counsellor, I am committed to on-going learning (Continuing Professional Development), training attended includes workshops with Place 2 Be on Attachment, Group Work, Working with Difference and Endings.
Here are other examples of courses / CPD workshops I have attended:
- Foundation in Art Therapy
- Foundation in Drama Therapy
- CBT Working with Children
- Teaching Drama
- Currently doing Level 4 Certificate Working with Children with Place2Be
What to expect within Counselling
Within a safe, confidential, contained space, you can talk, freely and openly about what has brought you to counselling. I am professional, non-judgemental, attentive and supportive and will work collaboratively with you while you explore your current issues and what may be the underlying cause of them.
Location for Counselling
I work with adults, children and young people and practises in therapy rooms in Buckhurst Hill, Woodford and South Woodford with mainly day time availability and occasional evenings. All locations are close to tube stations, with parking and easy access.
Your Next Step
