To varying degrees we all have thoughts, feelings and experiences that are all the more painful for not having been heard. The experiences of the modern world present us each with a unique set of challenges and amongst those is how we manage our place in an increasingly complex web of relationships – both personal and professional. Some forms of relationship can be damaging, yet others can be healing.
A healing relationship forms a creative dialogue where personal truths emerge and are allowed to develop. This is best achieved when the relationship is based on equality within a safe and containing environment. By exploring with a trained listener who we are in our relationships, by revealing what we actually achieve and by establishing how we truly feel then we can better negotiate our place in the world.
DIALOG Consulting provides a discrete time-limited psychotherapy service to individuals over a variety of timescales dependent on client need.
An initial consultation provides opportunity for us to meet in person and to get a feel for how we might work together to address hopes for change and how the therapeutic relationship works in practice.
We have clinics in both central London and Brighton and also offer appointments outside normal working hours.
Training, qualifications & experience
Andrew Hamilton B.Eng (Hons), P.G.Dip, MSc (Psych)
Andrew is the founder of DIALOG Consulting and has practices in London and Brighton. Andrew’s approach considers how our life experiences become woven into stories that are re-lived and are often constraining, unfulfilling or painful. He has a special interest in the application of process philosophies and complexity theory to psychotherapy and also in ‘body-knowing’ and its links to traumatic experience.
Having originally studied Computational Fluid Dynamics, Andrew worked in Information Security for a number of years, during which time he also qualified as a pilot. Following a long-standing interest in the practice of psychotherapy, Andrew trained as a counsellor at Varndean College and then at the University of Brighton where he read for a post-graduate diploma in Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling.
He went on to complete his training as an integrative psychotherapist with an MSc in Psychotherapy. As part of his training he worked alongside CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, NHS) and at the NHS Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
