Dharmishta (Dee) Lad - Coventria Therapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychotherapist and patient, and the particular problems you are experiencing. In essence, therapy offers you a safe space to talk about your problems in confidence with somebody who is trained to listen and to help you to change things that you identify.
As an integrative psychotherapist (trained in CBT, Person-centre therapy and attachment theory approaches), there are a range of different methods I may use to deal with the issues that you hope to address. Your active participation is an essential part of treatment.
It is important to be aware that psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may initially experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. Following this, therapy then often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress, but there are no guarantees of what you will experience. I can offer a secure base from which to explore new ways of being.
At the beginning of therapy I would evaluate your needs and discuss your history and reasons for seeking therapy. Based on that, together we will discuss a general loose plan for treatment, including an estimate of duration. You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether the cost and time involved are manageable. Therapy involves a commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. That is why I offer a reduced fee introductory session.
I do request that all clients are free of non-prescribed drugs and alcohol during appointments and that we treat each other with respect.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have, please contact me using the details on this page.
I hope you acheive desired positive life changes through your therapy journey with whomever you choose.
