Derek Lovell Dip.Couns, Registered MBACP
Hello. My name is Derek. I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor with counselling rooms in Stanwick in Northamptonshire. I am experienced in working with adults within a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and family difficulties, and issues with self-confidence.
I am trained as an integrative counsellor. What this means is that I believe that there is no single approach that can treat each person in all situations, and each person needs to be considered as a whole. As such I bring together elements from several therapies and tailor them to each person's individual needs and personal circumstances.
Before becoming a counsellor I worked as a professional in the city of London for nearly 20 years whilst also living in a small rural community. This has given me a unique insight into seeing the positives and negatives of both the anonymity of a big city, and the closeness of small communities.
If you would like to know more about me and what happens in counselling sessions with me, you can find out more details on my website which you can access by clicking on the link above.

Is counselling right for me?
Sometimes we have times in our life where we face situations that overwhelm us, or that we feel we cannot cope with on our own. You may be confused about your feelings, and you don't understand what they mean or understand why you feel this way.
You may be struggling with the pressures of your work, relationships or family life but you don't have anyone to talk to about how you feel.
This is where counselling can help. We can work together to help you find a way of understanding what is happening in your life, of understanding how you feel, and how you can move forward.
Counselling is not the same as talking to friends or family. In our sessions I will always endeavour to provide you with a safe and confidential place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and I will not judge you for the way you think or feel.
If you feel counselling would help you, please contact me using any of the contact details listed above.
