I am Married with three children. A traumatic life incident meant that I experience mental health trauma which involved learning more about myself. This encouraged me to learn more about counselling and use the natural warmth I have for people to help others. Professionally I have had experience as a Hospital Dietitian,Teacher, schools Inspector, Trainer and for the last 15 years as an integrative counsellor and   psychotherapist based in South Wales. I have dedicated car park suitable for the disabled and am available days, evenings, weekends and for home visits. I can relate to Person centred, Psychodynamic and CBT approaches. I provide short and long term counselling for individuals, including children and adolescents and couples.I am also a Supervisor, Trainer and Internal Verifier for OCN. The Counselling service is based on the belief that your needs are of the utmost importance. Working together we can help you gain a better understanding of yourself, to overcome obstacles in your life, and reach your goals.

Each of our lives is subject to various experiences that can affect our mental well-being. I am here to help you work through these issues. I have a warm and accepting personality that relates to you on a one to one basis whatever your problem. Because I am integrative psychotherapist I can adapt to your unique needs. I am also a certified Mental Health first aider for adults and young people, which helps me help you on the total spectrum of mental health issues. Getting to know and trust one another is the best way to progress well-being.

Training
I have studied, Nutrition and Dietetics, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, Business studies, spirituality and Counselling at University. I am always trying to improve my qualifications to improve my effectivence as a counselling practitioner.

Qualifications
M.Ed, LL.M, F.Deg.A.(Psychology & Integrative Counselling), Dip. Dietetics, Dip. Therap. Couns., Dip. Children and Adolescent Counselling, Cert. Supervision., FRSPH, ACC (Acc.), UKHAPP, UKapi, APCEP.BAPCA.
I was a State Registered Dietitian for 4 years working in the National Health service. I am therefore able to relate well to this aspect of well being which inter relates to our mental health. I am an accredited member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) which is accepted by BACP.

Experience
As an experienced educator I relate well to all age groups and to developing individual life skills.

I have worked as a therapist  for over 15 years. As a school teacher, schools adviser and Inspector I gained experience in both primary,secondary and adult education. I am a counselling tutor and a member and a part time tutor of a university faculty. I can therefore relate to the needs of many age groups. I have experience as a person centred psychotherapist on which my integrative approach is based. I am also skilled in Psychodynamic and CBT approaches. Spirituality is also an important part of my approach through 'mindfulness' and where appropriate the persons faith perspective.

For the last seven years I have also gained experience as a Supervisor to counsellors and students. I therefore have a wide range of clinical experience. I am in the process of working towards my accreditation with UKAHPP and then UKCP registration.

Fees

Initial consultation and continuing counselling sessions
A flat rate of £35 will apply for the initial consultation. If we decide to work together then the fee based on a sliding scale of between £30 and £40 will be decided according to your circumstances.

Concessions
Negotiable concessions for the low waged from £25. Rates for full time students and the unemployed are also available from £15 with evidence from students of a current student id or for the unemployed, a recent benefits booklet.

Individual and Group Supervision
A rate of £40 per hour is charged for individual supervision. The Group supervision fee is negotiable.

Training Courses
Training courses are individually costed according to their particular requirements and if they need to be accredited.

Access
There is a dedicated free car park and access is suitable for the disabled. Home visits can be arranged.

By Bus and Coach Service
The X2 travels both ways between Cardiff stopping at Cowbridge, Bridgend and Porthcawl.The local V1 bus (Watts) will connect you to Broadway, Llanblethian.

By Train
The nearest train station is Bridgend. The rest of the journey is by bus or taxi.

If you do not have a SATNAV to direct you by the post code (CF717EY) the following directions will help.
Enter Cowbridge from the A48 and proceed to the traffic lights at the top of Cardiff Road and before Primrose Hill. If you are entering from Cardiff turn left at the first set of traffic lights by the Trio Brasserie. Then turn first right into Broadway, Travel along until the road dips down a hill. My house is towards the bottom, before the bridge on the left hand side.
