About me

Are you struggling with feelings of anxiety and depression, unsure as to where your life is heading? Perhaps you keep finding yourself in the same unhealthy situations again and again, unsure of how you got there or how you can change things? Are you unhappy in your personal relationships, work position or life in general?

We can all reach crisis points at any stage in our lives, and this can leave us feeling helpless and anxious. We can struggle with feelings of loss, loneliness or anger and feel we have nobody who will understand us. Whatever issues you are facing, talking to a professional, highly trained therapist could help.

My name is Denise and I have more than 20 years experience of providing integrative psychotherapy and counselling to a wide range of clients seeking a place to talk. I have worked in a variety of settings including rehabs, health care, charities, further education establishments, with survivors of abuse and clients struggling with addiction.  I have also written and delivered workshops to clients, facilitated group therapy, and helped people to work through their issues in a confidential, supportive environment. I currently see clients exclusively at my private practice in Solihull.

I have a Masters degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and am in my final year of another Masters degree, in Psychology, to continue deepening my knowledge of mental health issues. I work with clients depending on their individual needs rather than using a ‘one theory fits all’ method.  The person-centered approach is the foundation for all my work, and I integrate psychodynamic theory, CBT, solution-focused and ACT where needed. I offer the opportunity and space to talk about how you feel with someone who is fully trained, experienced and non-judgemental, and who will work with and support you to help you resolve the issues that bring you to therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
