About me

Hello,

I have many years experience of helping people to understand why they think, feel and act in negative ways. Once you understand why you are thinking, feeling and acting negatively, together we can start to rebuild your life focusing on a positive healthy future.

I am a trained counsellor/psychotherapist and therapeutic foster carer, I specialise in childhood trauma and emotional development. I have many years experience helping adults and children, who experience many aspects of trauma such as bereavement, anxiety, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, and addiction.

Many of my clients come to me confused and unsure how to move forward, they have looked at the 'here and now', tried to find peace without success, they keep formulating repeated patterns of negative emotions  or dysregulated behaviour, impacting on their lives. I help clients to understand why they think, feel and behave in the way they do.  I help them to understand how their brain developed through childhood, how this is influencing them now.

Please call if you are nervous or unsure about counselling, most people feel nervous or anxious when making these sorts of decisions especially when it involves ourselves.

Best wishes

Della

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I specialise in childhood trauma. Many of my clients are looked after children who experience mental health which developed through childhood experiences. I also work with adults who find themselves with mental health difficulties and deregulated behaviours later in life. I help people understand why they think, feel and behave, how their brain develops through childhood, how this development results in negative thinking and behaviour in the 'here and now'. I use my own 'Childhood Development Model' to help clients make sense of their deregulated awareness, which in turn, enables them to formulate and regulate a secure and calm alternative awareness.
