My name is Deed and I am a trainee Transactional Analyst (TA) with psychotherapy speciality.
I am on currently on extended leave.
TA is great psychological model that offers a way of understanding the personality, child development and communication. I believe TA is a very useful way of understanding who we are and how we are.
As an experienced and approachable counsellor I offer a caring, confidential and professional service to my clients.
I offer short-term and long-term counselling and psychotherapy using TA. My goal is to support my clients to change their lives by resolving the issues that are holding them back from where and who they want to be.
I believe that people are capable of change and I help them to work through the changes they want to make. I believe TA therapy enables people to understand themselves in a way which then allows them to make the changes they want in their lives.
This may involve gaining a clear understanding of what led to a particular problem in the first place. A distressing situation in the present may have its roots in the past, but this process can be unconscious. TA helps to bring it into the person's consciousness to enable them to make freeing changes in their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This helps the person to break out of negative patterns and find more beneficial ways of being.

I have three years' experience working as a counsellor in a city-centre GP surgery. I established the counselling service within the practice and the GPs and nurses referred clients to me. I had a busy weekly surgery and I enjoyed working with lots of different clients from a range of backgrounds and ages. I helped them to explore and resolve distressing issues. The issues I worked with were wide-ranging, for example, lack of self-confidence, loneliness, anxiety and stress, relationship problems, rape, low self-esteem, depression, problems with work, bereavement, physical disabilities, painful childhood experiences, eating disorders, trauma and change.
I also work as a counsellor in a university where I provide counselling to students of all ages. I help them to explore their difficulties in a safe, non-judgmental, supportive environment. We work through issues about identity, home-sickness, worry about appearance, exam anxieties, insomnia, alcohol and drugs, sexual relationship problems, loss, sexuality, stress, poor image, anxiety, mental-health problems, relationship problems, assertiveness, personal development and studying difficulties.

A counselling session lasts for 50 minutes. The cost of each session is £35.
During the first session you will have time to talk about what brings you to counselling. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and to find out how Transactional Analysis counselling or psychotherapy can help you.
There is no charge if you cancel with 48 hours notice. The full amount is payable otherwise.
Our work is confidential, barring exceptional circumstances.
I am also a qualified social worker. Although I have worked in childcare, the majority of my experience is with adults. I worked in a city hospital for eight years, providing social work to adults experiencing a diverse range of problems.
I have been in personal therapy throughout my training. This has given me an authentic understanding of how this kind of psychological work can feel. I have learned first-hand how a psychotherapist's sensitivity and attunement can support personal change.
