About me
Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Dee Kyriacou and I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor offering a professional service from my private practice in Grantham, Lincolnshire. My Practice is in easy reach of Bottesford, Sleaford and Newark.
There are times in our life when we experience distressing events and feelings, or a sense of being unable to cope. Choosing a therapist can be a daunting experience, especially at a time that is already difficult for you. Finding a therapist that can offer you a safe environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences is important.
I am an accredited Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor with 13 years of experience working in NHS primary care, the voluntary sector and in private practice. Working integratively means that I draw on a variety of different counselling approaches and schools of thought to offer you individual support for issues such as:
- Depression and Anxiety
- Generalised and Panic Disorders
- Relationship Issues such as affairs, betrayals, communication difficulties
I currently work both in private practice and in NHS as a counsellor and supervisor.
Individual Therapy
As an experienced therapist I can help you make sense of the issues you are facing or experiencing. In a safe and confidential environment you can address your fears and sadness.
I offer one-to-one therapy for a variety of issues including:
- Issues from your past, or past relationships which affect your current feelings or relationships
- Bereavement and loss
- Lifestyle changes and major life events
- Relationship issues
- Depression and anxiety
As your therapist, my aim is to support you in gaining insights and developing awareness into your difficulties and to help you find possible solutions to your issues.
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT)
A romantic relationship is one of the closest we have as humans. Choosing a partner and staying together through life's ups and downs is rarely simple. Such a relationship is built on trust and intimacy. When it stops working we are affected deeply and our health and happiness suffers.
EFT is a highly researched, effective, and evidence-based therapy which focuses on the emotional bond between partners, assuming that most relational difficulties arise from a disruption in this bond. It helps partners learn not only to be more open and trusting with each other, but also to reach out for one another more effectively.
EFT focuses on the present time to makes changes in the here and now and helps us address the core questions we often ask ourselves about our most important relationship: “Do I matter deeply to my partner? Will they be there for me when I need them most? Do I feel safe and secure enough in this relationship to be my full and authentic self?”
As an EFT therapist I will work with you as a couple to support and help you to communicate and express your feelings so you can hear and understand each other, helping you to resolve your issues/difficulties and to move forward in your relationship.
Supervision
My aim as a supervisor is to aid your personal and professional development as a counsellor, gain new skills, help you reflect on your work with clients, and help you provide ethical practice for your clients
Reduced rates are available for counselling students.
I can provide counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples on either a long term or short term basis. I believe in working collaboratively with you, supporting you to decide what you feel you need, tailoring an individual therapeutic experience, unique for you.
I can offer appointments Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Friday mornings. Evening appointments also available

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Bereavement and Loss Counselling
Few events in life are as devastating and painful as the death of a loved one.
Specialising in bereavement and loss, I can provide support during this very difficult time, helping you to adjust to your loss by exploring a range of feelings and experiences that may surface for you.
Critical Incident Support
Each critical incident is unique. Supporting your staff after a critical or traumatic incident can minimise the level of disruption and distress in your organisation and for your staff, helping them to deal more effectively with their experience.
I offer individual or group debriefing. I can attend organisation workplaces and give emotional support following a traumatic incident/bereavement.
