About me

Many thanks for choosing to look at my profile. My name is Deborah and I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Integrative Therapist. I have been working with clients for several years now and have had the privilege of seeing many people improve their quality of life through counselling. I have been working with young people and adults since 2011 and have a wide range of experience in dealing with many issues such as abuse, anger issues, anxiety, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, unemployment, and many more. Please refer to the bottom of this page to view a fuller list.

I work as an integrative counsellor and this allows me to tailor my therapy to each individual's needs, for example, the Person Centred approach allows you as the client to decide the pace of counselling and what is most important for you to talk about each week, whereas Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is more structured and focused and allows us to work together to achieve your goals and address the problems that have brought you to therapy.

What to expect at your assessment
Most people feel slightly apprehensive when starting counselling and so coming for an assessment gives you the opportunity to meet me and discuss any concerns you may have. At the assessment we will discuss what current difficulties you are experiencing and what you would like to achieve from counselling. The assessment usually lasts for 50 minutes and if you are happy to commence counselling we can arrange your first session for either the same week or the following week.

I always aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment and have received much positive feedback from my clients.

I am an accredited member of BACP and abide by their code of ethics to maintain a high professional standard. I also have an Access NI certificate.

I work flexible hours to suit my clients and cover the Banbridge and Lurgan areas. Both the Banbridge and Lurgan offices are discreetly located and parking is available near by.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
