About me

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are” – Anais Nin

My name is Deborah Higgins and I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with an integrative approach to therapy. I have experience working with clients with issues such as Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Attacks, Anger, Social Anxiety and Relationship issues.

I provide a safe, confidential, collaborative and non-judgmental space at premises on 52 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 3ND, Alternatively, I am also able to provide sessions through Video Communication, Voice Calls and Internet Messenger.

What to Expect

We would initially undertake an assessment of presenting problems and how these are impacting on your day to day life.  We would then mutually agree a number of sessions needed to work towards addressing these issues, review your expectations of therapy and set goals to be achieved within the number of sessions agreed.

The aim of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is to teach patients that while they cannot control every aspect of the world around them, they can take control of how they interpret and deal with things in their environment.  We will work together collaboratively to develop a better understanding how your thoughts and feelings are influencing your behaviour.  During the course of therapy, you will identify and change unhelpful, destructive or disturbing thoughts patterns that have a negative influence on behaviour and emotions. However, as I have an integrative approach to therapy I will draw up other models of therapy to tailor the sessions to your individual needs and goals
