About me

Since the start of the Pandemic I have been successfully working online with all clients. This enables people to access therapy at a time and place that is far more convenient for them. This also means I can work with individuals from all over the UK and Europe and in particular Spain.

I have ten years experience working as a Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor.  I am registered and abide by the BPS and HCPC code of ethics.

What happens in therapy?

Together we explore what past and present experiences influence the way you are and why. By focusing on the therapeutic relationship, we can gain some understanding of how you relate to family, friends and work colleagues. Gaining this understanding helps you decide if you want to make changes in your life and if so how therapy can help you to do that. For me therapy is a confidential space unlike any other in your life where you can explore what you feel you need to without fear of judgement.

Through a discussion at the first appointment we decide whether short or long-term therapy would best suit to your needs.

Approach:

My therapeutic approach is integrative with a strong influence from psychodynamic and relational therapy also incorporating CBT and existential therapy. This means I work with what each client brings in a unique and individual way. Being curious about human behaviour has resulted in my career in psychology.

I have a special interest in:

  • Depression, stress and anxiety
  • Body image issues
  • Relationship therapy
  • PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and trauma work
  • Eating disorders

Due to my interest in the body, my doctoral thesis focused on the experience of female patients seeking elective rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
