The benefits of counselling & psychotherapy
Sometimes it's hard to talk with friends or family about difficult feelings, problems and experiences. Even with the best intentions, perhaps they're busy, struggle to understand or are unable to provide objective, helpful advice. And for very private people and those who feel alone, there might be no one to share concerns with.
Counselling feels different. It’s a safe, non-judgemental space to talk in privacy with someone neutral and empathetic who respects your point of view, offering dedicated support and useful understanding. Its effects help people work through and deal with their difficulties, making a positive difference to their lives.
My approach and specialisms
If you're drawn towards warm, approachable and collaborative counselling, my way of working might suit you. As an Integrative Counsellor, I use a combination of effective psychotherapy practices that would be best tailored to suit you. Your counselling would be confidential, and your well-being always respected and at the heart of each meeting. Whatever you bring to the sessions would be explored with a caring, flexible and open mind.
My specialist areas include:
- depression and anxiety
- relationship difficulties
- losses such as bereavement, separation and divorce
- self esteem and confidence building
- trauma and crisis
- changes in life stages and ageing
- health and disability issues
- carer's concerns
- work and professional struggles
The counselling sessions
The first session will explore your circumstances, the reasons you've come and what you hope to gain from your therapy. It's an opportunity to get to know each other.
You can then choose to book in further sessions during which we will explore whatever concerns, feelings and issues you wish to deal with. Together we would move forward at your pace to promote clarity, relief and insights that will help you process feelings, generate new outlooks and make a beneficial difference to your life.
