About me

My Counselling Service, The Mooring Counselling Service, is available to anyone who wants to take some time out from the pressures and ‘storms’ of life in order to find a place that is safe, stable and supportive. I offer one-to-one individual counselling sessions for adults and young people. I offer both short and long term therapy.

I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have also been awarded BACP Accreditation. My past experience includes working as a Teacher, Family Support Worker, Group Facilitator and Bereavement Counsellor. I now work as a Counsellor within a School setting and in my own Private Practice. I work with EAP companies and professional sporting bodies.

I have a special interest in, and experience of, working with transition, loss and ‘shattered dreams’ i.e feeling as if ‘this was not how it was supposed to be’. This led me to set up The Mooring Counselling Service in order to support people through times of change, challenge and loss. I also have experience of working with a wide range of other issues including stress and anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and relationship issues.

Why Counselling?

  • Are you struggling to cope after a bereavement, separation, diagnosis, or major disappointment?

  • Are you feeling low in mood, lacking in motivation or confidence?

  • Do you find it difficult to manage your feelings?

  • Are your ways of coping harming you?

  • Do you often experience relationships as disappointing or depriving?

  • Do you carry with you the shadow of past events?

  • Do you want to take some time out to consider a possible new direction for your life?

Counselling may be able to help you begin to accept the unchangeable, make decisions about what can be changed, and to reconnect with your hopes and dreams so that you can find new ways forward.

Counselling provides an opportunity to explore the issues that are concerning you, maybe fully for the first time, within the context of a professional relationship that is supportive and free from judgement. Often coming to a place of acceptance of yourself and your situation is the beginning of change. Counselling can help you to enjoy greater emotional and relational health; in short to live life more fully.

Location

The Mooring Counselling Service is located in Market Deeping which is easily accessible from Stamford, Peterborough, Bourne and Spalding. The venue provides comfort and privacy with easy access, free car parking and toilet facilities.

I am able to offer counselling sessions that are face-to-face, over the telephone or online. Face- to face sessions are conducted in a light and airy room.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
