About me

Everyone will experience emotional difficulties at some point in their lives. Counselling can help you feel empowered and become better equipped in dealing with those tough times. Therapy will encourage self-exploration and help you develop coping strategies.

I am an NCS Accredited Registrant Counsellor. My core approach is Humanistic, which adopts a ‘holistic approach’ to your existence and pays special attention to free will, fulfilling one’s potential and individual choice. I can also work by braiding in mind, body and spirit, if this resonates with you. The aim of Humanistic therapy is to help develop a stronger, healthier, sense of self, thus gaining a sense of meaning and understanding with whatever is causing you difficulties. It is particularly beneficial for those who are wishing to feel more in control of their lives.

Counselling offers a safe neutral space where you can explore the things that are troubling you. I am friendly and non judgemental.

Here are some suggested key areas that could benefit from counselling. If you are experiencing life changing events that you are struggling to come to terms with, please contact me for an appointment.

  • Addiction
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Loss (bereavement, relationship, redundancy)
  • Low self esteem
  • Relationships
  • Stress
  • Self harm
  • Suicidal thoughts

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications are accredited by the UK’s Counselling Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body, CPCAB, and I work under the Ethical Framework of the NCS. The spiritual side of my qualifications, Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, were gained through an approved CPCAB Psycho-spiritual counselling course operated in Glastonbury.

I completed my Diploma in Bournemouth, where I studied Integrative Counselling, which is a combination of Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I have completed the Certificate of Proficiency with the BACP.

An obligation of my training was to work with an independent counsellor and so I have experienced, first-hand, what it is like to undergo personal work in a safe and supportive environment.

I am also trained in Motivational Enhancement Therapy, a form of motivational interviewing which enables the client to focus on change.

I have an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS formerly CRB).

Other training

  • Trauma and the Body: Dissociation & Somatisation (Online)
  • Kings College London on Drugs and Alcohol - Understanding Addiction.
  • ASIST Training (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
  • Psychology and Mental Health.
  • Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
  • Working with Anger and Young People.
  • Psycho-Spiritual Counselling Continuation.
  • Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training.
  • Psychodrama Psychotherapy.
  • Volatile Substance Abuse Professional Training.
  • CBT- Differences and similarities between CBT and the Person-Centred Approach.
  • Online Therapeutic Presence.
  • Addictions from an Attachment Perspective.

I spent 5 years working as a Volunteer Counsellor with Turning Point, where clients work with issues around drug and alcohol addiction.

I have worked with young people between the ages of 13 and 25 at YPI Young Peoples Independent Counselling Service in Basingstoke. Here, I worked with depression, anxiety, stress, self-harm, body image, anger and bullying.

I have also trained and worked with The Samaritans. This has given me much experience of working with clients’ who feel suicidal.
