About me

We can all benefit from support to help us during difficult times. If you are feeling low or unhappy, anxious or depressed or if you have suffered a bereavement or loss, or find you are having difficulties in your relationships, your family or working life, then taking time to talk things through with a qualified counsellor can really help.

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor helping people with a wide range of difficulties. I offer a warm, professional and supportive style, enabling you to freely explore your difficulties.

Online Counselling

Since March 2020 I have been providing therapy session online (over video call or telephone). I have undertaken further training in online therapy and I have found that online therapy can be just as helpful and effective as face-to-face therapy. I have developed a real interest in providing counselling online and have had the privilege to witness the benefits it can offer. To support this I am a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy online (ACTO).

Individual Counselling
My approach is to really listen to you to understand your difficulties and support you to think about how things could be different for you. I feel passionate about the benefits of counselling and have over 15 years of experience in helping people with a range of difficulties including:

  • generalised anxiety disorder
  • anxiety
  • feelings of panic
  • feeling sad
  • low mood
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • low self-confidence
  • feeling worthless or empty
  • anger management
  • bereavement
  • loss
  • stress
  • eating disorders
  • relationship issues
  • bullying
  • trauma
  • suicidal feelings

Typically individual counselling is arranged for weekly sessions, however I can offer flexibility. I offer both short-term counselling and a longer term open-ended approach.  In the first session we can think about the best approach for you.

Couples Counselling
Couples counselling can be helpful to identify and talk through the difficulties you are facing in your relationship. Having time together with a professional counsellor to support you can help you to work through your difficulties, help you to find solutions and a way forward.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
