About me

I understand all too well that there are occasions in our lives when life itself can become confusing and overwhelming. This can result in us struggling to cope and make sense of it all, which can impact on our own well-being, as well as our relationships and working life. Sometimes it can be really hard to imagine a way forward from your current difficulties and this is where counselling can help you gain an understanding and clarity on your situation.

Counselling and how I can help you

Counselling is a very personal and individual journey.  It is built on a professional foundation of genuine understanding, trust, warmth, and support. The journey at times will be challenging as you unravel and gain an understanding of the impact of your experiences and relationships on your well-being and life and also the impact that you have on the lives of others. Through this process, you will gain a valuable insight of yourself and a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours' which will then enable you to positively move forward with your life.

What to expect

My role is to help you explore and reflect on your thoughts, feelings and difficulties of these personal experiences from a professional perspective and in a safe and confidential environment.

I offer appointments at your convenience including evenings, by either telephone or video calls. and will shortly be able to offer face to face sessions at my practice in New Walk, Leicester.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Leicester University as a Contemporary Psychodynamic counsellor. My counselling qualifications are:

  • BA (Hons) in Professional Counselling
  • Diploma in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling
  • Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling.
  • I am a registered member of  the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a regulatory and professional body and adhere to their code of ethical practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
