Profile
You may be checking this site to help you make the decision as to whether you want to come to therapy or not! It is likely you are starting to notice that things in your life are not how you want them to be and that you are ready to do something about it. I know from my own experience that this place can be confusing and anxiety provoking. As a qualified and experienced therapist, I can offer space for you to decide whether therapy is for you or not. This is done, primarily through conversation, that is marked by confidentiality, respect, curiosity and exploration to help you decide your next step.
People come to therapy for different reasons. You may not be yet clear about what it is you need or want to work on. Or you may be very clear and in touch with strong emotions and reactions that are causing you difficulty. Therapy is a place to explore things that have just happened or have been happening over many years.
The stigma of needing someone else's help can often stop us from doing the very thing that could help or support us to manage more effectively, live more fully and make healthier choices in our lives. I believe life can be tough and making choices about who, what and how we are in the world can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused and on our own - the support of someone else at this time can be crucial to our ability to work it out or not. I am happy to discuss whether therapy feels right for you, before you commit to ongoing work.
Choosing a therapist is an important process ... finding the right person for you will be crucial to how you engage and benefit from your experience. To help you with this please check this useful guide.

Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have a diploma in Gestalt Therapy and am a qualified Gestalt Therapist.
I am working towards my accreditation as a Gestalt Psychotherapist
I am a member of the Gestalt Psychotherapy and Training Institute (GPTI) and am governed and adhere to their code of practice and ethical code.
My background is in Biology, the Arts and Social Care/Education. I have a small private practice working with adults and children. I also work as a therapist for a large Children's charity and am a sessional therapist at Edinburgh University's Student Counselling Centre.
I am committed to developing my practice on an anti-discrimanatory basis i.e working with and learning from difference.
I engage in ongoing personal and professional development to ensure a high standard of therapeutic practice. I attend monthly individual and group gestalt supervision.
I continue to develop my skills and knowledge through attending workshops and training events. I have now completed my Supervision training and am keen to offer my skills as a supervisor whilst working towards accreditation.
