Dawn Edney Senior Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor MBACP
Sometimes we find ourselves less able to deal with the demands of life and this can leave us feeling depressed or anxious. At this time we can benefit from a confidential and safe place to express our thoughts and feelings.
I will aim to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs about others and yourself. This may involve talking about past events, such as those from childhood or trauma which may be historical or more recent.
Together we will explore and consider how your life experiences influence your thoughts, feelings, relationships and behavior. Most people find this exploration and understanding helps them to deal with difficult situations and symptoms of depression and anxiety more effectively and as a result improves relationships.
I am a senior accredited therapist with BACP and have a background in Psychodynamic Therapy. I integrate techniques from other practices, such as CBT, solution focused and Person Centred therapies, to create the most effective programme for both long and short term clients.
Alongside my private practice, I have had many years of experience working in the NHS, GP surgeries, charities and secondary schools. Previous clients have ranged from people as young as 13 years, through to adults of 92 years of age! As well as individual therapy, I am also trained to provide couples therapy.
I am an approved provider for BUPA and AVIVA insurance, as well as various EAP providers, should you wish to be referred to me through your GP, employer or health insurance.
If you are studying for a counselling course requiring long term therapy, I can offer reduced rates for the duration of the course.
Appointments are usually available within a few days of initial contact, at a time to suit you. I offer convenient time slots between 8AM-8PM, Monday to Friday. My modern, comfortable rooms are located in central Chichester with parking and transport links nearby or central Cosham with free parking outside.

Quote from local GP
'I would highly recommend Dawn to anyone considering psychological intervention. As a practicing GP, I have seen the significant positive impact her therapeutic approach has had on my patients. Time and again she has helped people make meaningful, positive and lasting change in their lives. She is an excellent practitioner and communicator, and I would rank her amongst the very best in her field.'
