About me

As a Counsellor I have the privilege of supporting clients through their journeys of self discovery.  The aim is to help individuals as quickly as possible, and it is the client who decides how often and over what length of time they need to meet for counselling.

With this in mind, as well as offering longer term counselling, I am also now able to offer Single Session Therapy.  This is intended to give clients the opportunity to work with one issue for one session, and we both work together to consider possible solutions to the pressing issue you are bringing to the session.   It aims to provide you with an action plan to help you start to move forward with an issue, in one session,  and to progress that at your own pace.  However, there is further help available if needed or wanted in the future.

All clients are welcome.  Whoever you are, you are unique.  Wherever you fit in this world, there is only one of you. Your presence in this world matters.

Appointments are offered at the office in person, or by videoconferencing if this is what you would prefer.

There is good local public transport: by bus (one minute walk from bus stop); by train (five minute walk from Cleethorpes train station): with car parking outside the office for those arriving by car.

My room/office is on the ground floor, accessible by wheelchair.  The building has a wheelchair accessible WC.

I also offer:

  • Anger self-management, aimed at helping clients to find ways to resolve their anger.
  • Emotional and mental relaxation through guided visualisation and/or meditation.
  • Single Session Therapy
  • Reiki healing - please note I do not offer this as part of counselling, but as a separate service.
  • Counselling Supervision for Counsellors
  • Couple counselling
  • Communication skills (exercises and role-play of skills)

I understand it can be difficult, and requires a great deal of courage, for many people to seek help.    You already have the wisdom to solve your challenges, find your way, and set out to get where you want to go. I am not here to tell you what to do.  I am here to support you while you explore your options.

The support I offer is like a friend who is cheering from the sidelines whilst you are achieving your goals. Or the passenger who is reading the map while you are driving - you are in control, and I am helping to read the map so that you can decide which way to go.

Whilst I will be here for you to come back to in the future,  if you feel you want to, the plan and the hope is that you will discover, or re-discover, the confidence and skills within yourself to do this by yourself in future.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
