About me

Psychotherapy and Counselling in Soho.

Though primarily trained within the Jungian tradition I also was influenced by the work of Freud, Winnicott and Klein.

I am particularly interested in Winnicott's concept of the "False Self" which he described as a compliant self formed in response to a non-supportive environment. Such people have a difficulty in feeling real and authentic.

This closely links with Laing's concept of the schizoid self where similar existential difficulties occur.

In an inauthentic society these feelings are exacerbated and are of interest to me.

I would describe my work as a crossover between Jungian and existential concepts in which the self actualises itself in action and language in the world.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.A Psychotherapy and Healing Practice - Middlesex University.

I worked privately dealing with people subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act for almost 20 years

These included a wide range of clients from serial killers detained at Broadmoor Hospital to people detained in local hospitals with varying degrees of mental illness ranging from anxiety and obsessional disorders to those who had serious and enduring psychotic illness.

Their issues almost always concerned medication and its appropriate use. Also housing and support provision within the community was another key issue.

The age range of clients ran from 12 to 80 and from all ethnic and religious backgrounds.
