David Stark MBACP (Reg)
I am an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist with a warm, approachable and down to earth manner. When not working in private practice, I am a member of the clinical team in the counselling service of a major London university.
In my work I aim to put you and your needs first, helping you to find a way through current difficulties. This may include exploring things that have happened in your past or concerns that you have about the future.
I work integratively, which means that I use different therapeutic techniques according to what is most appropriate for each individual. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds; from corporate professionals to students, young adults, people of different ethnic and racial backgrounds, as well as a range of sexual orientations and religious or spiritual beliefs.
I am experienced in working with clients facing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation, relationship problems, feeling a sense of difference, identity issues and anger management.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss what support you are seeking and what help I can offer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I successfully completed a BACP accredited training in counselling at the Mary Ward Centre in London. I qualified in 2012 with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Since then I have worked in a variety of settings including 2 years working for a bereavement service and over 4 years experience working in various university counselling services.
My training was Integrative. This means that I incorporate different therapeutic techniques based on the clients need. My practice includes techniques from the Psychodynamic, Transpersonal and Gestalt models as well as including CBT and mindfulness.
