About me

For the past nine years I have offered clients a therapeutic approach that has helped them develop an inner compass... a resource with which to find themselves when they were lost, a means of navigating rough waters, and an anchor in the storm.

It is an approach that enables the letting go of unhelpful learnings and habits such as self-criticism, guilt, fear and shame. It has helped clients to accept themselves and others, to trust, respect and value their way of being in the world. It has helped clients come to terms with the loss of: loved ones, work, health, and meaning. For some it has provided a means of dealing with anger; a way of finding peace. And helped others find a way of living without the need for antidepressants.

I offer confidentiality, a safe place to look at issues, deep understanding, respect, and honesty.

For those more interested in focusing on career problems/issues, I also offer Business & Executive Coaching based on a Gestalt approach informed by Zen Buddhism.

I work from home in a room specifically furnished for the purpose of therapy. We would meet for an hour session, usually once a week, although more or less frequent appointments can be arranged.

The first session is free with no obligation to continue.

I am located close to J25 of the M6 and just a five minute walk from Sainsburys supermarket, Wigan.

Training, qualifications & experience

My way of working is Person-Centred (Experiential), informed by Buddhist Dharma (secular teachings), especially compassion and mindfulness.

An explanation of the Person-Centred approach can be found at http://www.bapca.org.uk/about/what-is-it.html

A good example of a Buddhist approach to psychotherapy can be found in the book "Radical Acceptance" by Tara Brach PhD.

The helpfulness of mindfulness and compassion are well explained in the book "Mindful Compassion" by Paul Gilbert & Choden.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and am an Accredited member of the BACP.

My coaching and business related qualifications include a Post Graduate Certificate in Business & Executive Coaching and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

I have over 30 years experience of working in public sector organisations, with over a decade spent at senior management level.

My ongoing supervision, personal therapy and development helps me to practice professionally and authentically.
