Hello, I am David, 38 from Newcastle upon Tyne. Having worked in an NHS practice for the past six years, I have opened a private practice in Jesmond for new clients.
I hold a postgraduate qualification in Psychotherapy, and a diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild, one of the most highly respected training organisations in the UK. I have practiced psychotherapy and counselling for over six years.
I am analytically minded and my aim is to encourage the articulation of thoughts and feelings. Subject to our goals I will question, interpret or challenge with regard, respect and humour always valuing the importance of working towards an authentic, secure therapeutic relationship.
Together as we build a picture of your situation and its meaning we will identify what may be confused or misconceived. We can name, come to understand and safely work with emptiness, numbness, shame, guilt, anger or fear.
With an individual, person centred approach, I will utilise and share with you a range of theories in an integrative way. I favour psychoanalytic methods and Transactional Analysis, which provides an intuitive set of concepts to develop an understanding of how and why you function the way you do.
