David Goldstein PGDipCouns MBACP(Snr Accred)
13b New Station Road
I am a qualified and experienced, BACP-senior accredited, therapeutic counsellor.
I offer a confidential, safe and supportive space in which you can explore the issues which are causing you concern.
Who is counselling for?
Many people seek counselling because they are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other distress. This may have been triggered by a life event such as a loss, a relationship breakdown, or having been for too long in a stressful or abusive situation, or it may have no obvious single cause.
Other people seek counselling because they are confused about who they are and where they are going, and are looking for clarification and help in finding their direction and achieving a more satisfying life.
In the safety of a non-judgmental relationship you can talk about things which in your ordinary life you may find too difficult to share. Over time you can come to see things in a new way, and explore possibilities for living life in a more resourceful and satisfying way.
Choosing a counsellor
It is important to choose a counsellor who is right for you. I have many years' experience of working with a wide range of people in private practice and working for the NHS. You will find me someone who will stay with you while you explore your pain, help you understand yourself more deeply, and support you to make sometimes difficult changes in the way you live.
Research shows that clients who actively choose their therapist achieve better outcomes than those who are referred to one. Please ask for a free half-hour initial meeting without commitment to help you decide whether you want to work with me, if you feel this would be helpful.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the University of East London, and gained my postgraduate diploma in therapeutic counselling in 2001. I was granted accreditation by BACP (the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) in 2005, and in 2017 I achieved senior accredited status.
I have worked both in the NHS and in private practice.
I use ideas from different counselling approaches, to suit the needs of each client. My training includes humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and solution-focused approaches. However, the most important factor is the relationship between you and your counsellor. I hope you will get in touch with me and find out whether you can work with me.
