About me

Are you looking for a confidential, safe space where you can talk to a trained professional at a mutually agreed time on a weekly basis?

You may want to look at unresolved issues, old wounds,or any struggles or challenges you are experiencing.

asset_5a6533f41f399.pngI can offer perspective, feedback and an opportunity to understand more fully who you are and to make sense of life.

I offer you an opportunity in a supportive environment to look deeply and realistically at all aspects of yourself-body,mind,feelings and spirit including relationships with others and decisions about life and work.
We do this in the hope that it will make life more fulfilling and help enhance our lives and the lives of others.

The aim of therapy is to aid people in problems of living,to increase their sense of well being and reduce their subjective sense of discomfort or distress.

About Me:
I began my professional career working with 0-16 year olds and their families in North Kensington in various settings.
This,I believe is the groundwork for psychotherapy as child/human development is the base for many counselling theories. It was also an invaluable introduction to working with people from all ages, backgrounds and life experiences within my own varied community in West london.
My current practice [see photo above]as a counsellor/psychotherapist is in Notting Hill close to Central London.[see map on this profile  for exact location].

About Counselling:
In the counselling session you,the client, can look at and take stock of various aspects of your life. You can also express feelings freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends and family.Bottled up feelings such as anger, anxiety, fear, grief, shame and embarrassment can become intense and therapy offers an opportunity to explore them with the possibility of making them easier to understand.

What you can expect:
What happens in the counselling relationship is complex, subtle, delicate. The confidentiality contract is a containing and supportive mechanism. I will aim to:

  • Ask you about your expectations of therapy.
  • Establish with you presenting issues.
  • Work out a contract with you including confidentiality, timing, expectations, boundaries.
  • Provide a safe and containing emotional environment for therapy.
  • Respond to your uniqueness.
  • Respect the pace at which you wish to work.
  • Allow you to express feelings.
  • Review progress and provide opportunities to to say your experience of therapy.
  • Facilitate the ending for you.
  • Discuss future plans with you.
  • Work with adequate professional support.
  • Be aware of issues related to client diversity.
  • Practice in a non discriminatory manner.
  • Act with integrity.

I am prepared to discuss the underpinning rationale of my work and I am keen to stress the co-operative nature of the relationship.

I am a B.A.C.P. Accredited Counsellor.

I offer a 60 minute session for each visit.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
