Profile
I am an experienced and qualified counsellor and gestalt psychotherapist with over 23 years of therapy service in Manchester community. I am registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I work in two locations in Manchester - at the Gestalt Centre in Fallowfield and from my home in Chorlton.
Gestalt therapy is an active, lively and creative approach to living more effectively.
Gestalt therapy is creative and experimental and challenges and supports the person to look at and expand their potential through becoming more aware of how they get or don’t get, their needs met in their lives. Gestalt has an experiential approach to counselling and psychotherapy which aims to help the individual discover their own ways to manage difficulties and live more effectively. Gestalt has many different influences and strands and works with the body as well as with the mind. It is an approach to therapy which looks at how a person can function more effective in the present moment in order to get their individual needs met. Gestalt therapy emphasises developing a better way of relating to ourselves, others and the wider environment and is a therapy which explores many life issues including: relationship problems, stress, anger, anxiety, depression, sexuality, work issues, confidence, low self esteem and bereavement.

Further Information
Before embarking on a course of therapy it is important to have an initial session in order to experience working with each other, this is paid for. Towards the end of this session we can then discuss how it went and whether we think counseling/psychotherapy would work between us.
I can offer a limited number of weekly sessions, minimum 6, or open ended weekly sessions where we do the therapy and regularly review how it is going but have no set number of sessions in mind.
I can offer a limited number of reduced places so please enquire about these if you feel you cannot afford the full fee.
I offer individual, couple and group psychotherapy and counselling. I also offer supervision to other counselling and psychotherapy practitioners.
I run a weekly Tuesday evening gestalt therapy group. Working in a group can be an enriching experience whereby clients get to know and learn from each other and get feedback on their behaviours in an environment of challenge and support to explore their life issues. In a group it is safe to try out new ways of behaving and to share thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to share in day to day life. Group therapy often helps with developing more confidence and increasing self esteem.
I am also running a 2 day advanced therapy group which meets 3 times a year.
