About me

I offer a private, independent counselling and psychotherapy practice for clients who are experiencing distress because of life problems, relationship or health related difficulties.

There are different ways that we can work together. I offer:

Individual Counselling or Psychotherapy

  • Free initial consultation for any counselling or therapy
  • Brief Counselling 6-10 sessions
  • Short Term of 10-20 sessions
  • Medium Term (approx. 40 sessions)
  • Long Term Counselling and Psychotherapy (By Mutual Agreement)
  • Group Psychotherapy

I also offer:

  • Individual Counselling
  • Therapy for Long Term Health Problems (e.g. Diabetes, Heart Failure, Kidney Failure, Cancer. Any health condition that affects your ability to make the most of your life)

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional Experience

2011 – 2012 Contracted by Hunts Health GP Fund Holder Consortium to provide a trial of psychotherapy diabetics who were difficult to treat and/or resistant to accepting self care responsibility for diabetes.

2011 – to date. Faculty of Education, Cambridge University. Facilitated the professional development group for the child and adolescent psychotherapeutic counselling course.

2009­ – 2013. NHS Psychotherapy Department, NHS Mental Health Trust, London. I provided individual and group psychotherapy to patients as part of my Professional Development.

2008 – to date Private Psychotherapy Practice with individual and group psychotherapy clients.

October 2008 – Qualified in Group-Analytic Psychotherapy (Postgraduate Diploma). Clinical placement in a Psychotherapy Department in an NHS Mental Health Trust. I provided psychotherapy for individual patients and ran a psychotherapy group for 35 months.

2007 – 2011 Faculty of Continuing Ed, University of Cambridge, Facilitated experiential groups on an adult counselling course.

June 2005 – 2011 Institute of Continuing Education, Madingley College, University of Cambridge.  Facilitated professional development group for student counsellors.

1983 to Current Date - RGN with over 30 years of Intensive Care nursing experience.

Training and Qualifications

2014 – Masters Degree (MSc) in Group Psychotherapy. Dissertation – A Group Psychotherapy Approach to Improving Adherence to Treatment in Diabetes: Developing a Service for Patients and Staff.

September 2008 Qualified in Group-Analytic Psychotherapy. Membership of Institute of Group Analysis (Mem. Inst.G.A.) Reg No: 19820.

September 2008 Registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Reg No: 08160142.

September 2002Clinical Supervision course – Homerton College, Cambridge School of Health Studies.

September 2001 completed the Introductory Course at the Turvey Centre for Group Analysis.

I charge £30 for individual therapy sessions.

For group therapy sessions, I charge £20.

I can offer reduced fees for some clients on low income or benefits.
